More about Mrs. Childers

I grew up in the Portland area before attending University of Oregon - GO DUCKS! At UofO I studied business, environmental science, and geography.  After college, I worked as the Environmental Education Coordinator, developing field trips and teaching all ages, for a group of land preserves in the Chicago area.  I enjoyed being outdoors in all seasons and learning about new subjects, but wanted more permanent connections with students.
When I moved back to the Portland area I decided to teach high school and received my Masters in Teaching from Lewis and Clark in 2008.  I've been at Tualatin ever since!
Teaching is the best job ever!  I love working with kids, exploring new topics, and connecting science to our daily lives.
On the weekends you can find me exploring natural spaces in Portland, spending time with my super large family, or playing with my little boy and crazy dog. I enjoy birdwatching, camping, planting and weeding my native backyard, and reading.
